Ladies and gentlemen, you are not alone if you are flirting on The Book. According to a recent survey, 70% of respondents use Facebook to flirt. In our quest to flirt, over 50% of respondents will “friend” someone they know only peripherally and 25% will “friend” an absolute stranger they find attractive. Interestingly, while fewer women try to reconnect with an ex via Facebook, 2 out of 3 are in relationships when they reach out versus just 1 in 5 of men. (Let’s not draw the conclusion that there are ulterior motives though, us women really do think that we can “just be friends” with dudes, including our exes.) And perhaps not surprisingly, 60% of us use Facebook to “stalk” people we’re interested in. (Ok, seriously, what is that definition of stalk? We’re going to say it is more like 99%.)
