best friends, amazing love
Vixely separately interviewed a couple, Nick and Christine, about their relationship*. They haven’t read each other’s responses until now. For some color, Nick is in his late-20s and from the East Coast. Here’s what Nick had to say (read tomorrow for Christine’s responses).
1. How long have you guys been a couple?
We have been dating on and off for 5 years, but the most recent term has been a year and a half.
2. Give a brief synopsis of your story as a couple.
The two of us attended the same boarding school in Connecticut. I was new to the school as a freshmen, but Christine didn’t come until the next year. Like any small school (about 90 in each grade), when a new girl arrives sophomore year who is anything above a 4 on the 1-10 scale, she might as well be a 10. Well, that’s what happened when Christine came to our school, but she was not a 4. She was a high 8. Unfortunately, a low 4 can’t compete with a high 8. That’s what I was on a good day. 5’2″ and 110 lbs as a freshmen and 6’0″ 130 lbs as a senior and all the awkward stages of puberty taking place in the years between. Through those years, I didn’t try to compete for girls like Christine. They were interested in the older guys who played varsity sports and looked like Pacey from Dawson’s Creek. However, unable to compete, I developed a strong friendship with Christine that lasted through 2007. She had graduated college and worked for a year, and I had finished 4 years as a Ranger in the U.S. Army. During my time in the Army, Christine kept our strong friendship in tact by writing me letters and talking to me often while most of my other strong friendships fizzled out. She was the only person with whom my friendship grew stronger…so much so that when I was on my second deployment to the Middle East, something happened and we started exchanging X-rated emails. I didn’t understand why this high school babe was exchanging sexual fueled emails with me, especially since she was living in New York surrounded by possible suitors. I wasn’t going to ask too many questions though. I was in the middle of the desert surrounded by guys, and Christine was my only consistent link to the female species. Eventually, we determined that we had something deeper and when I arrived home we wanted to see if this relationship we had developed over email was even real since we had only been great friends in person. Well, it did work and 5 years later we are still dating. End of story.
3. Before you were dating, you were…
We were best friends. I was always physically attracted to Christine, but I was quite confident she would never be attracted to me. She was attending an elitist college in Massachusetts and dating someone who played squash, lived in [insert über WASPy Connecticut suburb here], wore bow ties, but “didn’t like preppy people.” I was in the Army doing what Rangers do: train, go to war, and act immature with their friends 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
4. What do you like most about each other?
I don’t know what she likes most about me, but I love her ability to make me feel happy no matter how crappy I feel. When she’s around, I know I will feel good even if the world around me feels like it’s falling apart. Even when I feel so uncertain about so many things in my life, I never feel uncertain about her.
5. What one thing would you change about the other person if you could?
I wish she felt as confident about her appearance as she seems to when she is in a social setting. When she is around other people she appears so confident and seemingly knows she looks beautiful. I wish when she was getting ready to go out, she knew she looked sexy and didn’t ask me if she does. She gives too many other girls credit and never gives herself the credit she deserves.
6. Describe your ideal night in.
Watching some form of TV or movie, getting a little drunk, playing with her dog, and having sex.
7. Favorite sex positions.
I really like standing on the floor with her on her back on the bed. That way I can see her whole body and achieve deep penetration without having to take my Crest White Strips out because in that position we are not kissing (kidding about the White Strips).
8. Weirdest hook-up you’ve shared.
Once we were at a bar and pretty drunk. We went into the bathroom to have sex in one of the girl’s bathroom stalls, and Christine kept trying to balance on the toilet with her high heels (because she didn’t want it to look like there were two people in there) but she kept falling off the toilet. We ended up not being able to have sex because we were laughing so hard and I lost my boner.
9. What does she do in bed that you love?
She reaches around and fondles my balls while we’re having sex. I really like that.
10. Why are you a great couple?
Because we’re in the best kind of love. It’s the kind of love that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds, and that’s what she’s given me. That’s what I hope to give to her forever.
